Is it worth taking a baby to Disneyland Paris?

Yes, I think it is definitely worth it! We took our 10 month old to Disneyland Paris and had an amazing time. I think the question should be at what age to take a baby to Disneyland Paris, rather than is it worth it to go with a baby. I’ll explain the key things to consider later in the blog post.

First, here are 5 reasons why it is worth it to take a baby to Disneyland Paris with top tips!

1. Create wonderful family memories

I loved seeing him experience the magic of Disney and his ride reactions! We had a great time and I’ll treasure these memories forever! My parents took me to Disneyland Paris as a child and it has always been my happy place with such amazing memories.

2. Babies can go on quite a few attractions

If you download the Disneyland Paris app, you can filter by all ages and see what attractions they can go on.

We took Baby H on:

  • It’s a Small World
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Cars ROAD TRIP
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Le Pays de Contes de Fées
  • Disneyland Railroad
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Phantom Manor
  • Super Hero Station
  • A ride on the main street vehicles

We also watched the Lion King show and the night time show.

Top tip!

I thought the shows were quite loud so we put ear defenders on Baby H. We have been using the Banz Baby Ear Defenders and it stays on well and the cushion is nice and soft.

3. It’s baby friendly in Disneyland Paris

I found that the baby changing facilities were excellent throughout the park and in the Disney hotels.

There is also a baby care centre in each park. There are changing tables, high chairs, kitchen with a microwave and sink, and a breastfeeding area.

I also noticed the restaurants in the Parks had microwaves too!

4. They’re free!

Kids under three go for free at Disneyland Paris! We also took Baby H to character breakfast at the Plaza Gardens Restaurant in the Disneyland Park as he goes free. It was so cute watching the characters interact with him. The character dining breakfast buffet at the Plaza Gardens Restaurant costs €50 for an adult and €40 for a child (3 – 11 years old).

5. There’s rider switch so you can still enjoy the Disneyland Paris thrill rides

A Disney trip with a baby is very different with a lot more focus on the family rides but you can still go on thrill rides too!

Rider switch lets parents take turns on rides so one parent can stay with the child while the other goes on the ride, and then you don’t need to queue again when the second parent goes on the ride.

How many days do you need in Disneyland Paris?

I thought our five day trip in Disneyland Paris was just the right amount of time! I would have loved to stay longer but actually we did just enough and now I can’t wait to go back again.

What age to take a baby to Disneyland Paris?

I thought that bringing a baby at 10 months old was a great time. However, babies change so much in the first year so there are different benefits and challenges to going at different ages.

Here’s a list of things to consider:

  1. Naps
  2. Weaning
  3. Milk
  4. Sterilising bottles
  5. How mobile is baby?

1. Naps

How many naps does your baby have?

Our baby had two naps in the day when we went – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The naps were consistent in times so it was easier to plan our days around the naps and we tried to have one nap in the hotel each day.  I think a one nap day would have been even better though as you can do more in Disneyland Paris.

We also stayed at the Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel as it was close to the Disney parks making it more convenient when popping back to the hotel.  If we had the budget, it would have been amazing to stay at the Disneyland Paris Hotel as that is at the Disneyland Park entrance!

I have a YouTube video review of the Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel hotel here:

2. Weaning

Where are you on the weaning journey?

Feeding solids does take some time and so it meant meals took a lot longer than if it was just two adults.

We were pretty far into our weaning journey so Baby H was on three solid meals a day. We took Ella’s Kitchen food pouches for his lunch and dinner meals. We had breakfast at the hotel so he could eat some of the food there too and we could continue with baby led weaning! I also ordered some fruits from a local supermarket to be delivered to the hotel using UberEats.

We also had some meals at the buffet restaurants in Disneyland Paris so we let Baby H try a little bit of the food. It was limited options for him though as a lot of food had salt in and we didn’t want to give him food with salt yet.

Top tip!

Bring your own travel kettle and you can boil water and cool it for baby to drink.

Bonus tip!

Don’t forget to bring bibs! We absolutely love these Bibado bibs and they make cleaning up so quick and means less mess so fewer outfit changes! We used the Bibado bibs for baby led weaning.

It wasn’t very messy when we spoon fed Baby H so I found these Boots disposable bibs great too.

3. Milk

How many feeds does baby need each day?

I was mainly breastfeeding but Baby H had one bottle each day which was expressed milk.  By 10 months, he needed a feed every three to four hours which meant it was easier to travel with him compared to when he wanted to nurse every one or two hours!

If you are making formula, then you might need to think about logistics of making it in the parks.

4. Sterilising bottles

How are you sterilising the bottles?

One thing I found really great about breastfeeding was there is no need to sterilise bottles! However, we had started introducing a bottle to Baby H so he had a bottle each day.

I bought these ARDO Easy Clean Microwave Steriliser Bags and it was super handy! They have microwaves in both the Downtown and Manhattan restaurants and you can ask the member of staff.

The Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel does provide a steriliser in the room but it was quite an old model and had no instructions so we didn’t use it in the end.

Tip

There is a fridge available in the rooms at the Disney Hotel New York- The Art of Marvel. There isn’t a fridge in all the Disney hotel rooms, such as Disney Hotel Santa Fe so remember to check before booking!

5. How mobile is baby?

I would say a baby carrier is a must bring item if traveling with a baby to Disneyland Paris. As you can’t take the pram into the queues, having him in the carrier was more convenient, comfortable and less tiring than holding him in our arms. Our baby was crawling and had just started walking but luckily still happy to be in the baby carrier and pram.

We used our BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Harmony in 3D Mesh and found it excellent quality and really comfortable.
